Case Study: Her+Her.

Faster, Cost-Effective Bespoke LGBTQ Fashion with AI.

Six Atomic partnered with Her+Her, an online tailor for LGBTQ customers, to automate fashion production. Six Atomic’s AI technology helped design new products, grade bespoke patterns, predict body measurements, and integrate eCommerce store and manufacturer, resulting in more efficient production of custom-fit clothes at a lower cost and faster speed.

Key Impact.

AI-Driven Personalised Clothing at Scale.

AI overcomes bottlenecks in bespoke clothing, automating body measurement capture, pattern grading, and manufacturer integrations.

Launch Products Without Technical Skills.

Brand owners can launch quality products without technical designers, pattern makers, or manufacturing knowledge.

Expand Market Reach with AI.

AI technology enables cost-effective production for untapped markets with unique body shapes and clothing preferences.

Project Overview.

Client.

Her+Her is an online boutique tailor for LGBTQ customers with unique body shapes and clothing needs. They offer bespoke basic wear to transgender people at different stages of transitioning, transmen who use breast binders, transwomen who had breast surgery, and women and gender-fluid people who like well-fitted masculine clothes.

Challenges.

As a new business, Her+Her has a small team and no in-house designers, pattern makers, or production lines. They've been hiring a fashion consultant to handle product development, which increased costs and lead time. They also need a way to get accurate body measurements from customers online for custom-fitted clothes.

Outcome.

Her+Her partnered with Six Atomic to automate many time-consuming tasks in fashion production. We developed modular libraries for quickly designing new products, AI to grade custom patterns and predict body measurements, and integrated their online store and manufacturer. With Six Atomic's technology, Her & Her improved production efficiency and offered custom-fit clothes at a lower cost and faster speed.

Key Technology Provided.

  • Modular design library (shirts).

  • AI pattern grading (shirts).

  • AI body measurement predictor.

  • Automated creation of manufacturing assets.

  • End-to-end integrations (from Shopify store to manufacturer’s PLM).

Solution Details.

End-to-End Automation: from eCommerce to Manufacturing.

Problem.

As a new brand, Her+Her lacks resources and skilled experts in designing, pattern-making, and manufacturing. Relying on a fashion consulting agency for these labor-intensive processes increases cost and lead time.

Solution.

Six Atomic integrated technology to automate the entire product development process. Our modular library and body measurement AI are integrated into their e-commerce store, allowing customers to personalise products. Once an order is placed, AI generates a custom-fitted pattern with the customers’ chosen design options, and sends it directly to the factory's fabric cutting machine.

Impact.

Offers personalised, bespoke products scalably and at a much lower cost.

AI-Predicted Body Measurements for LGBTQ Customers.

Problem.

Producing high-quality custom-fit clothing requires accurate body measurements, especially for LGBTQ customers with diverse and uncommon body shapes. Asking customers to measure themselves is error-prone and inconvenient, particularly for e-commerce.

Solution.

Six Atomic created a custom questionnaire and AI to predict body measurements for these unique body shapes based on statistical population studies. Customers simply fill out a short questionnaire about their body shape, eliminating the need to measure themselves or upload body photos.

Impact.

Effortlessly serves an untapped market that is typically difficult to make bespoke clothing for.

Body measurement questionnaire for ecommerce customers to quickly fill and have their measurements predicted by AI.

AI-Driven Bespoke Pattern Grading.

Problem.

Grading bespoke patterns to fit customers' body measurements is typically time-consuming and requires skilled pattern makers, a known bottleneck. Customers often wait 1-2 months for their custom-fitted products, which can be frustrating.

Solution.

Six Atomic developed AI to grade high-quality bespoke patterns automatically within seconds. Algorithms take body measurements input, calculate ease and garment measurements, and ensure grading results match the brand's grading rules.

Impact.

Offers high-quality bespoke products much faster without requiring pattern makers.
